Deception Bay North State School has up to 340 students enrolled from Prep to Year 6.
We have a co-located C&K kindergarten on site and we offer an early childhood development program and a special education program to students with special needs.
Our purpose is to provide an educational experience for students that builds in them the confidence to achieve through ongoing ‘personal best’. The school curriculum is geared towards this through a focus on academic endeavours and by offering a balance between The Arts and Sports programs.
Our students come from a broad range of cultural and religious backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Pan Pacific Islander. Many of our students have a language other than English spoken at home and students are frequently proficient in the spoken form of that second language. This cultural mix provides richness to the school through an appreciation and celebration of diversity. Students have a high level of racial acceptance and demonstrate the valuing of other cultures.
The learning environment is enhanced by students engaging with digital technology and online learning experiences with wireless connectivity expanding across the school. All teaching areas have interactive whiteboards which enable online experiences to be integrated into all learning areas and two computer labs provide digital learning for whole class and/or individual instruction.
As a Positive Behaviour for Learning school we strive to develop productive classroom learning culture to enable our students to successfully engage in the Australian Curriculum. Social skilling to develop self-regulation will support student growth and positive mindset enabling student futures to a ‘life of choice’.
